What Happens During a Dental Cleaning or Oral Surgery:
When you bring your pet in for a professional teeth cleaning, we will safely administer anesthesia and monitor your pet the entire time. We have Registered Veterinary Technicians who will assist during your pets procedure. This enables our veterinarians to thoroughly examine his or her teeth and remove all plaque buildup both above and below the gum line. We will also take digital x-rays which allow us to assess your pet’s mouth and detect any signs of infection or tooth decay that isn’t as easy to detect during our initial examination. If we find any teeth need to be extracted, we will remove them at this time.
Bringing your pet in for routine dental cleaning helps the effectiveness of at home care.
How to Care for Your Pet’s Teeth at Home
Even though we go to the dentist, we still have to brush our teeth daily at home. And just like humans, your pets need their teeth regularly brushed to prevent plaque build up and keep their gums healthy. At Park Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care, our veterinarians and technicians will assist you in making your pet comfortable with daily brushing.
We will also have a variety of pet-friendly dental care supplies, including:
